Halimah is a Deafblind little girl with Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a fatal allergy to the sun. In 2024, Deaf Defy taught her Protactile Sign and fit her with the strongest hearing aid we had.

Equipped with new communication tools, Halimah was able to enroll in Duksi, a Somali traditional Islamic School. She was able to connect with her culture and faith and one year later, she saw us again and displayed her newfound skills.
